A man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for being a FAKE ATTORNEY

Tebogo Motse

In an unfortunate turn of events, a 46-year-old man, Johannes Tebogo Motse, has been found guilty and sentenced by the Rustenburg magistrate court to 6 years in prison. What gave rise to such sentencing was the accused’s perpetual acts of fraud, where he posed as an attorney of the high court and defrauded members of the community. Not only did he defraud the community but the justice system as well. The accused was found guilty of 3 counts of fraud and 1 count of theft. He forged legal documents, including a certificate, which gave him access to the magistrate chambers.

One of his clients had paid him R15 000 for an appeal, but to her surprise the case was not making progress at all, and there was no COMMUNICATION from Tebogo Motse. After receiving no help, she reported the accused to the police, and upon further investigation, it was realised that the accused was not registered with the Legal Practice Council (LPC).
