CONGRADULATIONS TO Michelle Mendonça (42) and Griseldis Ellis (58) who qualified for and represented South Africa at the 2025 World Triathlon Multisport Championships. Both women competed in the Duathlon Sprint.

Two South African competitors placed impressively in 18th and 19th place, respectively, out of a fiercely competitive international field, demonstrating their depth and tenacity at the 2025 World Triathlon Multisport Championships. Michelle finished in 19th position and Griselda in the 18th position.

The competition, which is renowned for attracting the best triathletes in the world to compete in a demanding series of swimming, cycling, and running events, was a showcase for up-and-coming athletes as well as an endurance test. Securing back-to-back finishes just outside the global Top 20 after navigating difficult conditions and a tactical race, the two South Africans’ performance demonstrates the nation’s multisport athletes’ ongoing development.

Their performances demonstrate both the growing competitiveness of the South African triathlon development pipeline as well as the tenacity of each individual. The South African team demonstrated that they belong among the best, laying the groundwork for even better performances in upcoming world events, even though the race was dominated by seasoned international champions.
This accomplishment adds to the recent growth in South Africa’s multisport scene and bodes well for the country’s athletes competing in international triathlons.
